Carla Perissinotto, MD, is a distinguished professional with board certifications in internal
medicine, geriatrics, and palliative medicine. Her career at UCSF from 2017 to 2021 included a
significant role as associate chief for geriatrics clinical programs, where she developed new
clinical initiatives for older adults. With over a decade of experience in home-based primary care
at the Over60 Health Center and UCSF Care at Home, Dr. Perissinotto has a profound background in
serving older adults. Her recent role as associate medical director at VITAS hospice involved
innovative approaches to caring for patients with terminal dementia.
Carla Perissinotto, MD, has been recognized for her teaching excellence, receiving multiple honors,
including the HRSA Geriatric Academic Career Award from 2010 to 2015. She utilized this award to
develop curricula on elderly patient care. Dr. Perissinotto has also gained recognition both
nationally and internationally for her research on the impact of loneliness on the health of older
adults. Her work emphasizes the importance of integrating loneliness assessments into healthcare and
the development and implementation of community programs aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation
in adults.
Dr. Perissinotto has played a pivotal role in developing age-friendly clinical protocols and
programs for SabioHealth At-Home clinicians. Her commitment to providing high-quality, advanced
